Biography
Timmins, a small town in northern Ontario, has been the birthplace of international celebrities such as
Stompin' Tom Connors, Shania Twain, and last but not least, Paul Henry Dallaire.
In the early 70s, Paul left Timmins with his one-man-show (flat-top, bass drum, hi-hat & harmonica!) for Ottawa. He took a house
gig at the Raceway Tavern, referred to as "one of the best places to play in Ottawa" by the agent who booked him there. As good a place to pay your
dues as any, for those who can remember this establishment! From this experience, Paul's lyrics began to reflect the social attitudes and personal
anguish on the less-than-sunny side of life. From there, he has performed around the Ottawa valley, Western Quebec and even the occasional stint in
Nashville! Paul and his one-man-show can be seen & heard at the local hang-outs, sometimes accompanied by his band "The Passive Canadians".
During the course of his carreer, Paul has built a reputation as a songwriter who speaks for the "common man" in today's
society. He writes about life on the farm, the hardships of working in the mines, the dangers and lonelieness the seamen must endure to feed their
families, etc...
Paul Henry Dallaire strives to capture and understand the events that affect everyone in one way or another. He has been referred
to as the Bob Dylan of Canadian country music, a storyteller who can make his audience feel and experience his stories. He tells of days gone by,
current events, and warns of the future consequences of mankind's disregard for his fellow man and the enviromment. Although he has been known to
write a love song or two, Paul's focus is on "a day in the life" of the average blue collar worker, the unsung hero, and life's inevitable
ups-and-downs.
Unlike the "New Country" writer, Paul doesn't dwell on themes heard again and again, or resort to using childish clichés to
attract the listener. Instead he writes about the local folk, and focuses on making the listener feel and understand the real world, the other side
of life, be it humourous, tragic, or sad. To obtain this result, he digs deep into his own personal experiences, observations and research, and tells
it like he sees it, ignoring political correctness.
Much like an artist and his canvas, Paul uses his lyrics to draw you into his stories, and ignite your innervisions.
Paul has recently finished recording his latest CD, "America Bleeds", and is ready to once again hit the road to promote his
finest album yet! |
